På Eco Moyo Education Centre i Kilifi får rundt 200 barn gratis utdanning, mat hver dag og mulighet til å prøve seg på fotball, sjakk, kunst og praktiske ferdigheter. Vi støtter også rundt 70 tidligere elever gjennom ungdomsskolen og tilbyr voksenopplæring. Eco Moyo Education Norway er en ideell forening som samler inn pengene som gjør dette arbeidet mulig. Living in an area with unpredictable rainfall, the ability to store water is essential for ensuring a reliable water supply throughout the year. At Eco Moyo, we have always collected rainwater from our classroom roofs, storing it in tanks ranging from 5,000 to 10,000 litres. This new project takes our water storage capacity to a completely different level: a 100,000-litre underground water tank. About a year ago, we received our first chess boards. None of us imagined that a year later we would have students competing at the National Chess Championship in Nairobi. But before Nairobi came Kilifi. Earlier this year, four students represented Eco Moyo at their very first chess tournament. We honestly didn't know what to expect. The students had never competed before, and for us it was mostly about giving them the opportunity to try something new and see how they measure

This term we have successfully moved our swimming classes from the classroom to the water!! Swimming is a part of the curriculum, but schools rarely have access to pools or water. So its taught through books and videos: This is how you learn how to swim from books. Everyone knows thats not how you learn to swim!! So we threw a fundraiser this Christmas to try and introduce swiming to our grade 4-6 and we cant say anything other than; SUCCESS!!! We have gone to Tezo on Saturda

We marked International Day of Happiness at Eco Moyo again this year, and like last year, we kept it simple. We asked one question: what makes you happy? The answers are now up on our school board as this year’s “happiness tree”. It looks almost the same as last year, which in itself says something. Playing. Dancing. Eating. Learning. We looooooove new uniforms!!! We take pride in our colorful uniforms at Eco Moyo. They add joy to our already colorful school — and they feel very us. Even better: the students choose the colors themselves. Each class comes together to decide what they want. There are discussions and there are strong (read: loud) opinions. We would say it’s about 90% democratic :D Having different colors for each class creates a real sense of belonging and identity for the class as a group.
