A Very Special Graduation 2026
This is quite a historic year for us!! We are celebrating a huge milestone at Eco Moyo, so we thought we’d take you on a little trip down memory lane and a quick recap of some of the things we have achieved together.
Just next week, our Grade 6 students will graduate from Eco Moyo, and this is not just any graduating class. These are the children who started in our very first PP1 class (kindergarten) back in 2019, when they were just four years old.
That means they are the first class in Eco Moyo's history to complete their entire primary education with us, from PP1 all the way to Grade 6.
Can you guys imagine?!
We are having a bit of a moment here... Incredibly proud, quite emotional and a little sad that we actually have to let them leave us now.

And yes, you might wonder how they managed to complete eight classes in just seven years?
A little explanation: In Kenya's school system, children start with two years of pre-primary (PP1 and PP2), followed by Grades 1–6, before moving on to Junior Secondary (Grades 7-9).
During Covid-19, schools were closed for long periods, and afterwards the academic calendar was shortened to catch up on lost time. Students ended up completing two school years in just over 15 months. So there you have it, eight classes in seven years!
Now, for those of you who haven't been following Eco Moyo since the very beginning, or for you who might have forgotten how we have grown, here is little recap, or a trip down memory lane:
2014: Lindsay started Eco Moyo in Mombasa, with around 20 children. That same year, the land where our school stands today was purchased in Dzunguni.
2017: After three years of planning and building, Eco Moyo opened its doors in Dzunguni for the first time, with four classes, Grades 3–6.
2019: We welcomed our very first PP1 class: this year's graduates!
2020: Our first PP1 students moved up to PP2, and we welcomed a new group of four-year-olds into PP1. That brought us to six classes in total, with Grades 1 and 2 still missing.
2022: The last two classrooms were completed, and Eco Moyo finally became a complete primary school, with all eight classes from PP1 to Grade 6!
2026: 207 students across our eight classes at Eco Moyo, and 72 former students receiving support through Junior Secondary (Grades 7–9).

They’ve also been through quite a few different Eco Moyo uniforms over the years: colourful lesso fabric, kindergarten dresses, skirts, PE kits, and our current uniform, which is the same for both girls and boys, which is quite unique in Kenya!
2020 vs 2026
They have been here since before we even started providing lunch and extracurricular clubs! These children have really grown up alongside Eco Moyo, and looking back at how far we've come together makes us both emotional and incredibly proud.
We have gone through our pictures and look how small they were. Now they ar teenagers and ready to leave Eco Moyo! It makes us a little sad but also proud.
We couldnt find a classphoto from 2019, so here is from 2020 vs 2026!
