International Day of Happiness 2026

We marked International Day of Happiness at Eco Moyo again this year, and like last year, we kept it simple.
We asked one question: what makes you happy?
The answers are now up on our school board as this year’s “happiness tree”. It looks almost the same as last year, which in itself says something.
Playing. Dancing. Eating. Learning. Riding a bicycle. Reading. Skipping rope.
There is something very straightforward about it. No big statements, no complicated answers. Just the things that fill a normal day.
What we like about this exercise is not just the answers themselves, but the conversations that come from it. The children compare, laugh, sometimes disagree, and start noticing that what makes a good day is often something small and shared.
At the same time, it is hard to ignore the context. Many of the things they mention are things that, in other places, are barely noticed. Food is expected. School is routine. A bicycle is just practical.
Here, those same things are not taken for granted!!
That is probably why we keep coming back to this day. Not because it gives us new answers every year, but because it reminds us of what is already there.
Below, you can hear it in their own words - with more answers, where two of our favourites definitely are "jokes and making noise" 😂 Those answers are coming from the cheekiest boys in school😂😂
