– A Day Filled With Joy, Learning and New Experiences 🧡

Every year the Class 6 graduation trip is one of the highlights for our students at Eco Moyo. It marks the end of primary school and the beginning of a new chapter as they move on to Junior Secondary. It’s also a chance for them to explore places outside the village — to see something different, learn something new and celebrate the work they’ve put in. This year’s trip had everything: excitement, learning and plenty of unforgettable moments.

Early Morning Excitement

The day started early with a 7:00 AM pickup and the atmosphere on the bus quickly turned festive. Our students never need long before the singing, dancing and laughter begin. For many, these outings are rare opportunities to travel so the energy on the bus always feels special.

A Long-Awaited Visit to Naivas

Our first stop was Naivas, a large supermarket around 1 hour and 20 minutes from the school. This was a destination chosen by the students themselves — they were curious to see a “big supermarket,” something very different from the small window-shop in Dzunguni.Wandering through the aisles gave them a sense of scale and variety they don’t usually encounter. It’s a simple outing but for many, it’s the first time experiencing a store like this and it leaves a lasting impression.

Learning About Snakes at Watamu Snake Farm

Lunch Out Together

After the snake farm we stopped for lunch at a local restaurant. For many of the students, eating out isn’t something they do often so sitting down in a restaurant feels like a small adventure in itself. It was a relaxed break in the middle of a busy day and gave everyone a moment to recharge before continuing.

The Highlight: An Afternoon at the Beach

Then came the part everyone had been waiting for — the beach. The excitement was immediate. Running into the water, playing in the waves and exploring the shoreline — the beach always brings out pure joy. For some students it’s their first time, for others it’s simply a place they never get tired of. Watching them enjoy the ocean is a reminder of how meaningful these experiences are.

A Bittersweet Goodbye — and a New Beginning

Saying goodbye to Class 6 is always mixed with emotion. We are incredibly proud of these students and everything they’ve accomplished. While we will miss seeing them daily at Eco Moyo we’re also happy to remain part of their journey as they continue into Junior Secondary. Our support continues as they move into Junior Secondary.

A Day to Remember

The trip was full of learning, laughter and moments that will stay with the students for a long time. Giving them experiences outside their everyday environment helps them grow, dream and feel confident in new places.

Thank you to everyone who makes days like this possible 🧡
