A Fresh Start for Our Admin Building

After years of loyal service, our old admin building had begun to rot — so in the end of 2024 we decided it was time for a complete rebuild. What used to be two small buildings with one big staffroom, a storage space and an office has now become two brand new buildings that make a huge difference to daily life at Eco Moyo. It was finished and ready to take in use in early January 2025.

One of the new buildings now holds two offices and a storage room, while the other has become a much larger and more functional staffroom with an extended outdoor working area for teachers, a SEN (Special Educational Needs) classroom, a library, an additional storage room and even a separate TV-room.

We were incredibly lucky to have Frida, an architecture student from Norway, with us for around six months while she took a break from her studies. What a perfect way to spend a study break — helping us design and build something that will serve Eco Moyo for years to come!

Frida’s commitment and creativity made a big difference, and her whole family joined in by organising a fundraiser back home in Norway, raising an amazing 30,000 NOK towards the new buildings. We are so deeply thankful for their generosity, love and belief in what we do. The rest of the project was made possible thanks to a very kind soul from the US, who wishes to remain anonymous — we couldn’t be more grateful.

The new buildings have a slightly different colour than the classic Eco Moyo orange, which makes them stand out beautifully — and we love it! The design is both practical and uplifting: our headteacher now has his own office, every room can safely be locked, the outdoor work area is higher and cooler on hot days, and the TV-room (everyone’s favourite class!) can finally run lessons without the sound echoing through half the school.

As always, we worked with Jonathan, our trusted local builder, and a team of skilled people from our community. Together they’ve created something we’re truly proud of — a welcoming, functional space built with care, collaboration and heart.
